CASE- Study # 80

I am excited to play this week's CASE Study (challenge details here )! This month's muse is the very talented Laura Bassen. I am always inspired by her cutting edge style in die cut and pattern layering. These are Laura's two cards for the challenge. Aren't they delicious?  Notice her shape and pattern layering with hearts...just scrumptious!
I took the diecut , layering and stitching idea and did a little tweaking of my own.
thank you
I used the large diecut as a guide for the leaves and paper-pieced the holes, then I hand stitched the stem and leaves with green floss.
To achieve the subtle shadow effect for the flower, I used the negative diecut for masking (see photo below). I also added a few faux stitching lines onto the flower center with a fine black pen.
Well, that's it for me today! This coming week I am working as a temp at Dr. John's office. Maybe I will find some office supplies to play? Have a great week ahead!

Love how you created the shadow from the negative die cut. Also your interpretation of the cards while still very much your own take. Thanks for joining us at CASE study.

What a delightful card, Virginia! I love the faux stitching right along side of the real stitching. The stenciling is a technique i had almost totally forgotten-thanks for the inspiration to try it again!
